Join us on October 25 for a special end-of-season opportunity to view the annual duck migration from along the Minnesota river.
As autumn settles in, migrating ducks gather along our waterways, creating a beautiful display against a backdrop of fall foliage. Species we might find include Ring-necked ducks, Redheads, Pintails, Gadwall, Wigeon, and Green-winged Teal. If the conditions are right, we may also find Hardier northern Mallards and various types of diving ducks. They push into the state in larger numbers, especially when triggered by a late-October cold front and strong northwest winds.
Good to Know
The Old Cedar bridge tends to get chilly, so bring your binoculars, warm clothing, and a sense of adventure as we enjoy one of nature’s great migrations.
To help protect the birds and their habitat we will be observing safely from the bridge and docks.
The pedestrian bridge is open and is a flat, concrete path that is fully accessible. The old cedar boardwalk is being replaced and closed until November.
