Determining whether a wild bird needs help can sometimes leave you scratching your head. This presentation will cover common scenarios that lead people to call the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WRC) for advice, from broken bones to grounded fledglings to nests in hazardous locations. You will learn how to help wild birds in need, when to leave them alone, and how WRC helps their avian patients take flight.
When Brittney Yohannes joined WRC in 2010 she worked in the avian nursery managing the rehabilitation of young songbirds and waterfowl. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with her Master’s in Conservation Biology, she returned to WRC to oversee the volunteer programs department, and stepped into the role of Communications and Development Director in 2023. She loves giving presentations like this where she can share how WRC lives out the mission of providing excellent medical care and rehabilitation for wildlife, all while being powered by the community.
